Vexed.

I think it is Nailed on that Hernandez will be moved on in the summer and the main reason will be because his earnings do not match his importance in the team. That and the fact he probably also wants out to get more minutes.

Re: Striker situation in the summer
They'll want gazillions for Wilson and he's got a gammy leg. Agree Mitrovic is not the answer, too slow for me but Pellers has a soft spot for a big man up top. I've got a feeling nobody will come for Arnie and we'll be stuck with the fucking weird cunt.

I just hope we dont replace the moody Arnautovic for the moody Mitrovic, steer clear of that type of character

Personally Id go all in for a British striker, better attitude

Wilson ?

Where is everyone getting this Hernandez figure? You all seem very worried about it, like the fucking post 96er, football manager playing numpties you clearly are.

Who gives a fuck how much they're being paid if they regularly score? Not a top six striker? Where to fucking start with such drivel?

If I were Wolves, I would certainly pay the 38million Euro buyout.

Re: Striker situation in the summer
Arguments to sell them all:

Arnautovic - doesn't suit the manager's style of football, and even pre China debacle was half the player he was last season. Get rid. For all he's done since probably should have taken the January offer. 35m (if we're very lucky)

Carroll - no explanation needed - get rid. 0m

Perez - as per Carroll. Offers next to nothing and doesn't even sound a good professional. 5m

Chicharito - simply too expensive for what he adds, getting older, and we should get rid while he has some resale value. 10m

Hugill - barely Championship quality. 5m

Gives us circa 55m minus loyalty payments if we get these figures (so probably about 45m).

Buys us one decent forward for about 30m, and one punt for about 15m, or two ageing Bosmans. After that we're relying on kids we already have.

For this reason alone Id keep Chicharito who has shown he'll keep scoring goals and we can't replace his goals with what we'll get for him, so sucking up his wages is the least bad option (plus he seems a decent pro).

Leaves us to buy one main forward to replace Arnie, Chicharito, and one low cost punt (e.g. Habib Diallo) or low fee high wage ageing Bosman style forward (e.g. Llorente at Spurs).

Our best chance to properly upgrade this department will be when Rice goes in a year or two time (inevitably).

Chica not Chicago bloody spell checker

Re: Striker situation in the summer
will tell. Chicago is not a top 6 striker but then again we are definitely not a top 6 side and no chance of being one in the foreseeable future either. So for a middling middle of the table side he is as good as we get. Even if they splash the cash again next season we still won't get near the top 7 unfortunately as from Wolves up they will all spend as well as already having superior squads to us anyway. Money always talks in this league

How about Ben Yedder at Seville?

Re: Striker situation in the summer
We should not forget players get injured. How can we? I would like to see 2 proven forwards, one could be Arnautovic and 3 others in the making including Silva. I do not think Antonio should be considered a forward. I know he has played in that position (quite a few times), but he also played RB. Antonio is a versatile player, but he is a midfielder.
Chicharito is a good player to have, but an upgrade would be much better.

Hernandez can play off a big old fashioned CF, given time.

But Carroll is DEAD.

And Pellegrini doesn't plan like that anyway..

Next level. Of conundrums.

why is Hernandez not a top 6 forward?

Re: Striker situation in the summer
We need a good frontman who can hold the ball up, head the ball and linkup play.
Olivier Giroud style player but unfortunately he is too old now and on the way down as is another player I really like Edin Džeko.
Hard to find the quality and consistency. Rondon might have been a good option but he is on a decent deal now and his club would want way more than he's worth.

Re: Striker situation in the summer
Arnie has proved himself to be the shit cunt that Sparky Hughes warned of. No effort, waves arms around. His head's gone. Just sell the rest of body parts for as much as possible.

Get young Silva playing NOW. He might be raw, but what's the point of The Academy if they all just disappear into wherever?

TeVaz 7:06 Tue Mar 19
Re: Striker situation in the summer
Carroll is surely finished , Hernandez not fancied as a starter so will be off , Perez is shit and Arne wants out although by recent performances who will want him at his age with no resale value ?
Could be a difficult summer window !

dealcanvey 6:46 Tue Mar 19
Re: Striker situation in the summer
I dont think we need so many strikers. We seem to have more than the top clubs playing in Europe.

I think Arnie, Xande, New Striker and Antonio as an option is enough.

One upfront is the way forward. We dont need 5 strikers earning big money for that position.

Has Maxi Gomez scored in 2019?

Maxi Gomez is not particularly fast or mobile but he is strong, a handful around the box and knows where the goal is. More Diego Costa than Diego Maradona.

Re: Striker situation in the summer
All I know is that we do not have a world class striker at the moment Arnie who was brilliant last season obviously wants out and Chick who can do the biz is in reality just a super sub who does not always fit but when he does he is pretty decent.
I said last season we need two strikers and right now I feel we need them even more.
So Arnie has to go Carroll is utter Injury man and he should have gone after two years with us the chick can go too as I would guess he will still have clubs waiting to take him away even with his stupidly high wages .

Mex Martillo 6:03 Tue Mar 19
Re: Striker situation in the summer
If we sell them all, which I agree with, we will need to buy more than 2, I would say 3-4 minimum.
